Don't Judge Me
So I’m sitting here, it’s about 2 in the morning, and I’m staring at the blank page which is my blog. Yet I started this endeavor about a week ago. Why no posts? Procrastination. This word pretty much sums up my work ethic, study habits, room cleaning ritual and life. Now don’t get the wrong impression, I’m not a pathetic, lazy, unsuccessful, unmotivated person (quite the contrary), but I am a firm believer in the power of pressure. Why spend three nights studying for an exam if you can spend 3 hours in the middle of the night the day before the test and achieve the same results? If I started to study extremely early I would not feel that time crunch, that do or die adrenaline kick in, and I would most likely perform poorly. Therefore I have accepted that putting things off (for school work at least) has been the most effective way of doing it, and although yes, it does cause stress, it gets the job done. However, school is not the only place that I wait till the clock starts ticking, and these other areas often get me into trouble (or at least annoyed at myself) I’d love to have a perfectly clean, everything in it’s designated place, room. But this is never the case. Within about 27 hours of tidying up my room it looks the same as it did before, sometimes worse. This is something I am forcing myself to work on. If I make any progress, I’ll let you know. But back to my reason behind writing this...I wanted to introduce myself to the blogging world and tell everyone a few of the characteristics about myself that makes me unique. (a nice way to phrase “my weird quirks”)
1. I sit on my knees when taking a test in class, typing on the computer or at a table that is just way too high for me.
2. I cannot wake up on anytime ending in a zero or five. (well technically I could wake up on these times, I just choose not to because that is how everyone else does it. For instance this morning I woke up at 8:01.)
3. I also set two alarms every morning. (my second was set to 8:07.)
4. After I eat anything sweet I must have something that is not sweet at all. It doesn’t have to be salty just not sugar-coated.
5. I hate socks, and as often as I can find ways of not wearing them. i.e. flip flops during the summer, boating shoes during the winter
6. I love to read, unless someone tells me to.
7. I enjoy driving in the car alone, but stick a person next to me and I get a little nervous.
8. I have always wanted to write an entire poem without using the letter “O”, and I will one day. (Perhaps I’ll post it on here.)
9. I am one of the most sarcastic people I know. (can’t help it, it’s in my blood)
10. I view failure as the equivalent of death.
11. I am deathly afraid of sharks.
12. I want to sky dive and bungee jump off a bridge.
13. I must have a pencil in my hand to study or in my mouth to type a paper.
14. I’m obsessed with new school supplies. (This week was finals week and I bought new pencils just to help me study.)
15. I detest all red sauces: tomato, marinara, meat, ketchup, etc. and eat my spaghetti with butter.
16. I love high heels (being 4’11 will do that to a girl)
17. Snow is my all time favorite thing that falls out of the sky. (I happen to hate the other form of precipitation that comes out in any temperature higher than 32°)
18. Give me a back rub and I’ll be your friend.
19. This is my favorite number.
I swear I’m not as awkward and crazy as I might sound, I just thought I’d be upfront with my oddities so they don’t take you by surprise at a later date. I believe this is going to be fun, and I’m not wrong very often ;)

Your post reminded me of two of my favorite quotes, both from the same person, Bill Watterson.
ReplyDeleteCalvin: You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.
Hobbes: What mood is that?
Calvin: Last-minute panic.
"A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day."
-Calvin
...and yes, sarcasm IS in your blood. ;)
